Tree service questions

Are you a tree company?

No. Canyon County Tree Help is a referral service. When you call, we connect you with an independent local tree service that does the work and gives you the price. We may be paid for the referral, which never changes what you pay.

How much does tree removal cost?

It depends on the tree’s size, what’s under it, how easy it is to reach, and whether hauling and stump grinding are included. The crew will look at it and give you a price before any work starts.

Can I trim a tree near a power line myself?

No. Idaho Power says never to trim or remove a tree near a power line yourself. Call Idaho Power at 208-388-2323 first.

Do I need a permit to trim or remove a tree?

For trees on your own property, usually not. For trees in the city right-of-way, usually yes. Nampa requires a free permit from the City Forester to prune those. Caldwell licenses tree contractors and has its own tree permit. Call your city first if the tree is near the street.

Do I need to call 811 before stump grinding?

Yes. Stump grinding goes below ground, so call 811 (Digline) first. It’s free, and utilities mark their lines within 48 hours.

What areas do you cover?

Nampa, Caldwell, Middleton, Parma, Notus, Wilder, Greenleaf, Melba and the rest of Canyon County, Idaho.
